Il sogno dei giovani americani degli anni Cinquanta e Sessanta, immortalato dal film cult American Graffiti di George Lucas, compie 40 anni. Il film, che spinse un manipolo di giovani attori sulla strada che portava all'Olimpo delle celebrità (Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, Harrison Ford), debuttò in Usa il 1 agosto e il giorno dopo fu presentato al Festival di Locarno. Ottenne incassi straordinari, vinse il Golden Globe e conquistò 5 nomination all'Oscar. Indimenticabile la colonna sonora.
